| Kettles and Company is New York City's only high end timpani and percussion rental company that boasts one of the largest and most complete collections of standard and exotic percussion instruments. Kettles and Company is the exclusive provider of instruments for, (amongst others), the American Symphony Orchestra, the New York Chamber Symphony, the Aspen Music Festival and the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra. Highlights of the collection include timpani hand made by the late Saul Goodman, which are maintained with Australian kangaroo heads. Yamaha instruments include top of the line timpani, xylophones and chimes. Kettles and company maintains a complete collection of Clevelander snare drums as well as an extensive collection of tam tams, gongs and cymbals from around the world. Kettles and Company owns one of the first production model vibraharps (circa 1927) as well as one of the only playable 4 octave xylomarimbas (circa 1908) in existence. The center piece of the collection is the worlds largest single headed drum (9 feet tall) that is reputed to be at least 500 years old and at one time was used to smuggle rifles to Mindinauw. With over 300 instruments in the collection, we have recently acquired a rare electric bass marimba manufactured by Musser in the early 1970s Also we have boobams, metal sculpture instruments created by Bill Saragosa and instruments from Africa, Alaska, China, Japan and South America.
